Yes sir the gifts have arrive, no really we paid for them. Synergy Reef made us a custom Sump and QT tank and even a few extra things. We are releasing a video by weeks’ end on them for they are very cool to show you. These guys do high end acrylic work which is sweet. Update on our Custom Dead Rock for the Dream Tank
We just got another update via The Alternative Reef. As you can see our dead rock is coming along nicely for our tank. In the series of photos you can see the progression and the developing of the full structure. It still needs to be fired and cured and of course painted which will still take a few weeks but it’s looking really freaking cool.
The Alternative Reef
On our trip to MACNA 2013 we had the opportunity to meet a very special person, Scott. He is the founding owner of The Alternative Reef. He is based in Green Bay, Wisconsin and has a unique gift to make very cool custom rock for aquariums that, once painted, looks very real. Now we know that spending hundreds of dollars on hand make dead rock might not be for everyone but this is cool stuff for us reef-nerds. Scott has started to create a special piece for us and we are so pleased to show you the pictures of the creation as it unfolds. So stay tuned as more photos will follow.
Foscam Camera
We are playing around with the IP cameras again, this time we think the soon-to-be released Apex Fusion will be the ticket to us using the camera remotely to monitor the reef, 24-7 eyes on the system – how sweet this will be in the new setup. This is a shot of the Foscam working currently on the setup and how it looks at night with the IR on. The camera can pan and tilt and goes online but we can’t remotely operate it yet due to Verizon wireless constraints but give the Apex people time and they work magic we hope and it will all work out. =)
